Dry mouth, also known as xerostomia, is a condition that affects millions of people worldwide. It occurs when the salivary glands in the mouth do not produce enough saliva to keep the mouth adequately moist. Using a humidifier at home, especially at night, can improve moisture levels in the air and reduce oral discomfort. Avoiding alcohol, tobacco, and caffeinated beverages can also minimize dryness, as these substances tend to dehydrate the body and affect saliva production. Additionally, practicing good oral hygiene by brushing and flossing regularly, along with using alcohol-free mouth rinses, helps maintain a healthy mouth despite reduced saliva flow.


For individuals experiencing persistent or severe dry mouth, specialized oral products such as saliva substitutes, moisturizing gels, or sprays are available. These products mimic natural saliva and provide temporary relief from dryness.
